Newbie- QwestHero

Post by QwestHero » Sat Aug 03, 2013 1:39 pm

Hi everyone,
QwestHero here. :D
I first want to say I'm so happy that Visions is in the making. It truly is one of a kind. That being said I want to help in anyway possible in the time I'm not working/studying.
I'm currently studying to be Medical Transcriptionist, and I'm going to start a C# programming class this next month. I heard something about a programming class being taught for the volunteer developers for Visions? Is that class for beginners in programming and is it being taught online? if so I'd really love to be a part of it, and maybe use the skills taught to help with Visions Development.

The programming class announcement was about 4 years ago. The programmer we had on staff at that time who was willing to teach the class is no longer on the team, life pressures pulled him away from us. So we are unable to offer tutoring or classes using the game engine for programming. It would not be in C# anyway, it would be in Python at this point in time. Sorry to disappoint you. There are however some free Python programming classes you can take online if you want to learn python and volunteer on our team. You can find a couple online learning opportunities here:

http://www.codecademy.com/

http://docs.python.org/2/tutorial/

http://docs.python.org/2/tutorial/index.html

http://learnpythonthehardway.org/

http://learnpythonthehardway.org/book/

http://www.tutorialspoint.com/python/index.htm

https://www.coursera.org/course/programming1

https://www.coursera.org/course/programming2

http://www.pythonchallenge.com/

http://cscircles.cemc.uwaterloo.ca/

And this link isn't a course so much, but one some of the programmers we've had on our team like for tips and tricks: http://www.programmersheaven.com/tags/Python/

Hope that gets you on your way!

God bless you,
