Hi, your assumption is that we did not look at Unity.

We did.

It is an FPS engine just like T3D. It has similar pitfalls that all FPS engines have. It is not built to be an MMO engine, it's built to be an offline single player game engine. Converting it to an MMO engine is at least as hard as it was to convert T3D.

The good news is that we are now using a game engine that ACTUALLY WAS built from the ground up to be an MMO game engine. We are using Bigworld. It is hands down THE BEST MMO game engine available to Indies on the market. In our opinion it is better than HeroEngine. We tested both. We chose BigWorld.

We have no plans to change game engines again in the future. This is it. If we can't make this game in Bigworld, it can't be made. We've got the cream of the crop now.

As far as the ALPHA Version, are their any quests that you can do? or only explore the zones and scenery? Im looking to buy the alpha version but unsure of how much content is available. Understanding that is is "Alpha" i'm not expecting alot, though Im curious on the amount of things i will be able to do.

Thanks AGAIN HBTZ!!! God bless,

Questing is a future goal for beta. Content is virtually nonexistent at this stage except for exploration of the game world.

This is a video from May. Some of the features shown are future goals. Like taming. There's no taming at the moment.

Thank you MJenkins!

I have a little time now to go into more detail. I didn't have time at all yesterday. I appreciate that my team is able to step in and help. :) And that they let me know when there are posts on the forums that need attention.

So as MJenkins said, the Alpha stage of development is the technical stage. We're getting all the basic structures and foundational tools built. All the default features that are built into the game engine are functional. But not all of them are in agreement with our game design, so some of the things you can do in Visions right now you won't always be able to do. Like flying.

Bigworld did come with a few fun things to do. You can click on an animal and have it follow you. You can use the staves that are included in the engine to kill animals. You can loot items that are dropped. You can swim. You can eat the chicken leg and drink from the goblet.

We've also implemented a few little things that we think make the world feel more like an MMO right now. You can ride a boat. You can "kill" rocks (a precursor to mining) to collect gold nuggets. You can "kill" certain types of trees (a precursor to logging skills) to collect tree resin. You can get meat from chickens and rabbits. You can ride a horse or a dolphin or an eagle (which still have the hoverbike physics, so it's not really accurate, but we're working on that). And we have added 3 zones for exploring. So you can run quite a long way in the world and see a lot of terrain.

And presently we're offering the download for 50% off. And there are no monthly fees. You're basically paying for access to the test server, and your payment helps us continue with development. We don't have corporate funding. We don't have money from investors. We are volunteers. We depend on our fans to support this project as the Lord leads them. If the Lord is urging you to support us financially, we hope you will be obedient because we do need the help. If the Lord is urging you to support us with your prayers, please be faithful in that.

Thank you for your interest in Visions!
