Our programmers highly recommend these resources on game programming. And for 3D modeling software you can't beat the price for Blender (it's a free download from www.blender.org ) but you might want a book to help you learn how to use it. Others prefer to use software like 3DS Max because it is the tool of choice in many art schools, and it is an excellent program for those who learn how to use it.
